The NEA-AK Republican Caucus upholds traditional values at the heart of our American Republic. This caucus acts as a voice for these values in all areas of NEA-AK policy, programs, and practice and serves to safeguard these founding principles from unwarranted compromise or abandonment in our teachers' association.
We believe that a robust dialog is crucial to democracy, without which the most vocal group dominates and may suppress the voice of others. Though opinions may differ, disagreement does not equal hatred. Rather, when the freedom to voice disagreement in NEA-AK is mutually respected among members, it nurtures balance in the organization and models sensitivity to member concerns.
We encourage our caucus members to express their opinions, but to also respect those who disagree, without resorting to the destructive behaviors of name calling and demonizing. It is in this spirit that we encourage you to join and actively participate in creating the voice and direction of the NEA-AK Republican Educators Caucus.
Purpose of NEA-AK's Republican Caucus
1. Work with the Republican Party at the state and local levels.
2. Develop and maintain communications between NEA-AK members and Republicans concerning educational issues.
3. Encourage members to actively participate in the Republican Party.
4. Promote more bi-partisan support and attitudes within NEA-AK.
5. Seek equal and fair Republican representation on all Association committees (both state and local) mindful of the rich and important heritage they have in the Republican philosophy and purpose in government and education.
